How to sew a service industry suit

Vest

  1. Preparing the pieces: Cut all parts (fronts, back, pockets, straps, facings, neckline facing). Reinforce fronts and neckline with interfacing.
  2. Pocket assembly: Sew and attach patch pockets to the front. Topstitch around the edges.
  3. Shaping seams: Join shaping seams on front and back, press. Insert straps into back seams.
  4. Vest assembly: Sew side and shoulder seams. Attach facings and neckline facing. Make central button fastening. Finish hem.

Skirt

  1. Preparing the pieces: Cut front panel on fold, two back panels, and waistband. Reinforce waistband with interfacing.
  2. Main seams: Sew side seams. Leave opening in center back seam for fastening and slit.
  3. Fastening and slit: Insert zipper into center back seam. Add one button fastening. Finish slit.
  4. Waistband and hem: Attach waistband to top edge. Finish hem with turn-up or topstitch.
