Sewing a cotton suit

  1. Preparing pieces: Cut all jacket and trouser parts according to the pattern: front panels, back, yoke, sleeves, collar, pockets, waistband, fly, belt loops, etc.
Reminder: add 1 cm seam allowance to all seams and 3 cm to hems and sleeves.
  2. Jacket: Sew patch pockets (two lower and one upper on the front panels). Join yoke with back and front panels. Stitch shoulder and side seams. Assemble sleeves (upper and lower parts), sew and set into armholes. Attach cuffs with buttons. Assemble and sew the turn-down collar. Make central button closure.
  3. Trousers: Sew patch pockets on the front panels. Join front and back panels. Finish fly and facing. Attach waistband with belt loops. Sew side and inseam seams. Finish trouser hems.
  4. Final finishing: Check seam alignment and fastening strength. Hem jacket and trousers. Press the finished suit.
