When stitching the pieces, pay attention to the notches – they must match.
1. Overlock the center back edges. Stitch the center back seam from the mark downwards. Press the seam open, pressing the allowance for the zipper.
2. Place the zipper under the allowances so that the teeth are not visible and stitch it.
3. Along the neckline edge of the front, sew a line with slightly loosened stitches. Gather the neckline to the required length.
4. Stitch and overlock the side and shoulder seams of the dress. Press the shoulder and side seams towards the back.
5. Stitch the shoulder and side edges of the facings for the front and back, press the seams open. Overlock the outer edge of the facings. Place the facings right sides together with the garment and stitch the neckline edges of the front and back. Finish the armhole in two steps: first the upper edge, then the lower edge. Topstitch the allowance onto the facing 0.2 cm from the seam.
Turn the facing to the wrong side and press. Attach the center edge of the facing to the zipper allowance.
6. Press the hem allowance of the dress to the wrong side, fold and topstitch.
7. Cut a decorative belt of the desired length and 9 cm wide. Fold the belt lengthwise with right sides together and stitch along the long and short sides. Turn the belt right side out, baste, and press. Fold the raw allowances inside and topstitch the belt 0.1 cm from the edge. Secure the belt on the dress under the bust.
Tip: Depending on body type, the belt may be placed at the waist or hips.
